So...I have wanted to go to culinary school for quite some time now but never really had the opportunity or the means to do it. When I first moved here I had researched culinary schools here in Indy but didn't really find anything that was appealing. So now some 10 months later I decided to look again. I was brought back to a location that I had looked at before - The Art Institute of Indianapolis - but a while back they didn't offer the Culinary Arts program....well now they do! If accepted I will be part of the first Culinary Arts program here in Indy. The great thing is that I am going for an Associates Degree in Science and if I choose so (which I think I will) I will go on and get my Bachelors as well!
I am so excited...it all happened so fast! On Sunday I submitted a request for more information. On Monday I got a call from the Admissions Office and made an appointment for Wednesday (today) to go meet with them. Today I enrolled and got the ball going! On Friday I meet with my Financial Aid Officer. On Monday I go take a placement test (for my general education courses...since it has been so long since I was in school last) and then I stay after the test for Orientation. If all goes well, I will officially be a student on May 10th!!! Yes, that is next Thursday, May 10th! Isn't that crazy! The great part about it, is that my 1st Quarter will be 2 classes that I can do online :) So the 2 trips I already had planned won't be interrupted...I just have to log on-line and go to class! Then starting in July, when the kitchens are completed, (they are still in the building stages right now...that means I will be using all new equipment!!) I will start doing 5 hours, 3 days a week in the kitchen along with 2 other classes per Quarter!
I am so excited that I actually got up and did it! I can't believe I am going to be in school again! Like I said, I have been talking about it for YEARS and now I am doing something about it!!
I'll keep you posted as it progresses!!
