Driving to Texas

Its D-Day! Dad and I unloaded my storage unit and loaded up the moving truck 2 days ago (yes...on Christmas Eve) and we parked the truck at his apartment! I didn't sleep well last night...I didn't really go to sleep I don't think! My alarm went off at 4:30a and I got up and got dressed, got myself ready and drove over to dad's to meet him and get going! We had a few things to get out of his apartment and put in my car and then we were out and on the road at 5:10am. And because I am such a planner...we already had full tanks of gas and a ton of snacks, drinks and some energy drinks ready for this drive!
We got on I-20 West and this would be our route the entire way from Atlanta to Dallas! It was so dark when we were on the road and we finally got some daylight as we got into Alabama!
Going by Talladega Speedway!
That's dad up ahead in the yellow truck...I let him get ahead of me so I could set my cruise control and not have to keep an eye out for him to make sure he was keeping up! Oh...and that is DD in the window! He is excited to be going to his new home!
Yep...DD likes Funyuns!
We made it to Mississippi
And DD got some Popeye's in Jackson, MS...we figure this is about our half way point! And while we were there...Dwain called to check on us :)
Yep that is dad still up ahead...we were crossing the Mississippi River!
WE MADE IT TO TEXAS! Dad kept going so I stopped and got out and took a photo with the Texas sign :)
DD got a picture with the sign too :)
Hahahahaha...this is a funny story! While I got out to take a picture with the Texas sign, dad kept driving and I would just catch up with him...well I called him when I got on the road and he started freaking out cause he thought he was going to run out of gas! Dwain had warned me that once you get into Texas that the gas stations will be far and few between! I asked dad what exit he was on and he didn't know! So I told him to sit wherever he was and I would find the exit that has gas and let him know. Finally I found it and dad just happened to be getting on the highway right behind me and he made it to the gas station! As soon as he got out...the first thing he did was kiss the gas pump! It was priceless!
Back on the road...we weren't too far from Dallas!
Once we got closer to Dallas it started to get darker so I took over as the lead car and let dad follow me. This is my first official Texas sunset :)
That night we just pulled out our air mattresses and ordered pizza...as we were blowing up my air mattress...I realized I had a leak! So this is how I woke up! lol I was an air mattress taco!
