Today we drove down to Big Bend National Park which is about 69 miles south of Marathon where we were staying.
It was a scenic drive the entire way!
We lost Abby on the short hour drive...
But Riley stayed awake by playing his PSP on the way
We ate lunch at the Chisos Mountain Lodge and it has such a beautiful view!

We went on 2 trails...the first one was just a "Window View" and had a sidewalk

Then we took another trail that ventured down further into the mountains

We left the Chisos Mountain Basin and then headed over to Rio Grande Village...we had the most beautiful scenic route the whole 29 mile drive
We got to the Rio Grande and instead of looking like a river, it looked more like a creek
We saw several people across the border...they would make jewelry and other trinkets and canoe or ride a horse across the river to come over and sell them

We took a trail that goes along the river and then ends at a sand dune...it was a nice little hike!
Abby and Riley would see people with walking sticks so they would pick up random sticks to help them!

There were donkeys across the river in Mexico!
This is the end of the trail...we were walking along the rock and a wall of bamboo and we went as far as we could go until we couldn't go any further
Dwain and Riley took a different route than me and Abby on our way back to the car and we saw them come sliding down the sand!
And just when I didn't think we would see anything...I heard something that sounded like a dog barking and when I looked over to see it...it was a Roadrunner in a tree!
We left Big Bend just before dark and then drove into Alpine to eat dinner :)
