Trip with Kids Day 3 - White Sands National Monument/Alamogordo, NM

Today we left Marathon, Texas to drive 365 miles through El Paso, Texas; Las Cruces, NM; ending at Alamogordo, New Mexico. Most of the drive was along the border between Texas and Mexico...it was pretty interesting to see how close the fence to separate us just runs along the highway.
We got to New Mexico!
It was cold and it was snowing...the mountains were beautiful
Dwain took the time to sleep...so cute!
We got to White Sands...this is where the government used to test bombs and still use it to test missiles
Going through border patrol...again
The kids were pretty much wide awake the whole drive
Then we got to the White Sands National Monument where they have an 8 mile scenic drive and places where you can get out and walk around or sled (yes, I said sled) down the sand!
It felt like we were driving through snow because it was cold, the wind was blowing and the sand is so white and it was cold to the touch
We got out and walked around...it was beautiful
Dwain climbing up the sand
Riley headed up too...
Me and Riley climbing the hill
I was barefoot and the sand felt awesome
Abby was asleep so we decided to leave her in the car
What a beautiful sight! I can't explain it...if you get the chance you have to see it!
We got to our hotel and the kids went swimming before we ventured out to find a place to eat dinner! They love the fact there is an indoor pool!
Miss Abby so cute in her bathing suit
Dwain was making fun of Abby in the goggles
