Beverage ID

So, one of my classes is called Beverage Identification and Management. We have to learn about all the wines, where they come from, how to know what grape each is from, how to discuss what the see, smell, taste and how to convey that with intelligence! I am loving it!
I am not a wine drinker and have only come across 1 or 2 wines that I thought were decent enough to drink more than 1 glass! And I have always preferred white over red. But that is changing! Each week we taste 5-8 wines after we learn about them and discuss them, then we get to put what we learned to use! So far I have found a few whites and 1 red that I enjoy :)
One of the whites is a German wine, from the region Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, it is a Riesling Spatlese (the word Spatlese lets you know it is a higher quality), it is a complex wine and intense! When you taste it, it hits every taste bud on your tongue!
This is one that I found at Publix produced by Fritz Zimmer and it is a 2007 (with white wines you want to keep them very young!) It was good! The one we tried at school was incredible! If you can find it, it is the same type of wine and from the same Region, but it was produced by Marienberger Piesporter and it was from 2006.
The other white I liked is called a Gewurztraminer (pronounced Geverstrameener.) The one we tried at school was produced by Willm, from 2006 and it is from France the Alsace Region. The other night for dinner, Jon brought a bottle with him. It is from Rhinefarm Vineyard, Sonoma Valley and it was a 2003. They both were very similar and I really like the taste of them both!
The red wine I found that I like is a Portuguese wine, called Douro Red from the Douro Region of Portugal, produced by Lavradores de Feitoria and it is a blend of 4 grapes.
Here are 3 of the wines lined up so we can compare them. The one on the left is the Riesling, the middle one is the Gewurztraminer, and the one on the right is a Rose of Malbec (did not like that one!!! Whooo!)
