Fox 59 News in Indianapolis

Monday morning we had to be at school at 5:45am to get ready for a live news broadcast from our kitchens! The Art Institute holds a "Best Teen Chef" competition each year and each school has 1 or 2 winners per city/state. They then go to a national competition to compete for the best teen chef award. Sarah, a girl that is attending AI in Indy, was the winner for Indianapolis and went on to Dallas for the national competition.
The 2008 competition is coming up and the Art Institutes are promoting it on a local and national level. (If you haven't seen them, there are commercials almost every or every other commercial break on the food network for the International Culinary Schools at the Art Institute!) So we had Fox 59 news out to show Sarah preparing a recipe and it also allowed Chef to promote the competition for Indianapolis!
Chef asked me to be there to prepare the meal, like a food stylist, and I would then put it on her stove at the time they went live! It was so much fun and such a rush!
Me and Sarah taking a moment before the craziness!
Sarah preparing a few vegetables
Chef showing Sarah a few things...
Me preparing the food to be shown on tv!
Carla was taking the pictures for us...and got some great ones!
A shot of the ingredients lined up on the table
Me and Chef cutting up before we went live!
Chef showing how to tourne an artichoke
Sarah, Chef and Me
Me starting to plate the presentation plate
Me carving the pork tenderloin
The camera man from Fox 59 setting up
Chef getting his microphone on
Sarah all set to go
Finishing my plate
Sarah and Chef getting ready
One last touch...and mic check
My finished plate...used just in case we ran out of time!
And we're live...
Here is the clip of the live broadcast!

(A few notes...the guy says something about how he is used to eating tenderloin breaded and served as a sandwich! Here in Indy it is a huge thing! Every where you go to eat they have a Tenderloin Sandwich...and they are pretty darn good! And you hear her at the last few seconds mention something about the fog! We had 2 days of this intense fog that seemed to not want to leave us!)
Afterwards, we got the Fox 59 microphone and played a little!!
I pretended to interview Sarah...
...then Chef Marc!
Carla interviewed Sarah...
...then Chef Marc!
Sarah's finished plating
The Fox 59 news van...
...stuck in the mud!
I thought this was a cool picture....it happened to be one of the foggiest days ever in Indianapolis!
I posed with the camera man...I look so short next to him but I was standing in a hole!
